  • Our impact
  1. About us
  2. What we do

Our impact

We do what we do because children and young people with SEND are legally entitled to the right education.

Providing the right educational support to meet a child’s individual needs is life-changing. Our services bring direct benefits for children with SEND including:

  • Securing a place at the most appropriate school to meet a child’s individual needs
  • Securing additional support at school to meet a child’s individual needs
  • Guaranteeing that children’s needs are properly assessed
  • Bringing successful appeals to the SEND Tribunal
  • Resolving unlawful exclusions from school
  • Ensuring that children out of school receive suitable alternative education

Our reach

During 2020/21, we:

  • Advised over 4,679 families on our Advice Line, Tribunal Helpline and Information Service
  • Provided individual support to 206 families through our Tribunal Support Service
  • Secured changes to policy in 4 local authority areas
  • Responded to 7 national consultations and calls for evidence
  • Had 688,740 visits to our website, providing a wealth of free downloadable legal guides and resources to parents and carers

The struggle facing thousands of families of children and young people with SEND can take years to resolve and often has a devastating effect on children and their families, so the advice and support we provide is vital.

IPSEA are amazing, I owe them so much. Their support was amazing – all the way through to winning the tribunal for my son’s preferred school. I just can’t thank you guys enough.
