Dilys’ story – Advice Line Volunteer, Warwickshire What is your role at IPSEA? I have been volunteering with IPSEA since 2005. I work on our Advice Line providing legally based information and next step advice to families of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities. What inspires you to volunteer for IPSEA? My desire to support families whose children have special educational needs and disabilities, and a continuing interest in the issues that families face. Volunteering with IPSEA also provides a great opportunity for me to update my knowledge and skills, and on a personal level, I feel more able to support my daughter and her husband whose son is on the autistic spectrum. What would you say to people thinking about volunteering for IPSEA? Volunteering on IPSEA’s Advice Line is a significant but worthwhile commitment, and I have gained a lot of knowledge and experience. Life is difficult if you have a child with special needs; if IPSEA can make the journey for parents a little easier, we have succeeded in our aims. Manage Cookie Preferences
