This one day training is designed specifically for local authority staff, providing an overview of the
special educational needs and disability (SEND) legal framework, as well as other related areas of
the law.

This training covers:

• The SEN legal framework – including statutory duties on local authorities
• Education Health and Care (EHC) needs assessments and EHC plans
• Naming a school or college in an EHC plan
• Home to school transport
• Exclusion

By the end of the training, attendees will have a sound understanding of the framework of SEND
law and the duties of local authorities, schools and colleges towards children and young people
with SEND. This training relates to the law as it applies in England.
