Local authority: SEND law training

Our one day training is designed specifically for local authority staff, providing an overview of the special educational needs and disability (SEND) legal framework, as well as other related areas of the law.

Delivered by a member of IPSEA's legal team, the training day covers the following topics:

  • The SEN legal framework – including statutory duties on local authorities
  • Education Health and Care (EHC) needs assessments and EHC plans
  • Naming a school or college in an EHC plan
  • Home to school transport
  • Exclusion

By the end of the training, attendees will have a sound understanding of the framework of SEND law and the duties of local authorities, schools and colleges towards children and young people with SEND.
