Book training Learn about and book SEND law training For parents and carers Upcoming training events for parents and carers Subsidised Training - Introduction to SEND Law: 25 August Date: Tuesday 25 August 2026 Duration: 5.25 hours (09:45 - 15.00, including breaks and Q&A) Format: virtual, via Zoom webinar Thanks to a donation from The National Lottery Community Fund Awards for All, we are pleased to offer this training to parents, carers and young people who are unable to access a full cost place at an IPSEA parent/carer training event. Please note, a £10 deposit will be payable at the time of booking, and this will be refunded to you once you have attended the training. To ensure as many families as possible can benefit from this fund, we can only offer one free place per family. This one day training is designed specifically for parents, carers and supporting family members of children with special educational needs and disabilities, providing an introduction to SEND law, and empowering attendees to secure the right education for their child. This training day covers: The Law – where to find it; the basic definitions; scope How should a nursery, school or college help? How should a local authority help? The process to obtaining an Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan What should an EHC plan contain? Naming a school/college in an EHC plan The content is particularly relevant for parents and carers who are looking to secure additional support at school and/or an EHC plan for their child but would also be suitable for those who already have an EHC plan in place and would like to learn more about the law and how it applies to children and young people. This training relates to the law as it applies in England, and is presented live by a member of our legal team.
