Our training days provide an opportunity for attendees to explore key issues in special educational needs and disability (SEND) law in the context of their role and organisation.

We have developed standard package training days for local authorities, and we also deliver bespoke training for those who need us to focus on a particular issue or area of SEND law.

Standard package training days

We have two standard package training days tailored specifically for local authority staff to support your work with families of children with SEND.

  • SEND law for local authorities: this one day training provides an overview of the SEND legal framework, as well as other related areas of the law. By the end of the training, attendees will have a sound understanding of the framework of SEND law and the duties of local authorities, schools and colleges towards children and young people with SEND.

  • SEND decision making and the law: jointly developed with the Department for Education, this training day assists local authority decision-makers to interpret and apply the legal requirements of the Children and Families Act 2014 to key decision points.

Bespoke training

If you need us to focus on a particular issue or area of SEND law not covered in our standard packages, we offer a bespoke training option. You set the syllabus in consultation with IPSEA's legal team, and we will develop a bespoke training session tailored to your requirements. Our bespoke training is priced individually based on content.
