18 November 2024

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Madeleine Cassidy as the new Chief Executive of IPSEA. Madeleine begins her new role on Monday 25 November 2024.

With over 20 years of leadership experience in the non-profit sector, Madeleine most recently served as CEO of Cambridge Online, a charity dedicated to inclusive technology access. Her career includes significant roles in the disability sector, including as CEO of The National Bobath Cerebral Palsy Centre, The Brazelton Centre and Support 4 Sight.

Commenting on her appointment, Madeleine said:

"I am genuinely thrilled to join IPSEA as Chief Executive and to support a mission that means so much to me. Working closely with the board and staff team, I look forward to developing and leading our new strategy that builds on IPSEA’s vital work supporting children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). My goal is to ensure we continue to empower families seeking the educational support their children need – and are entitled to by law – so every child and young person can thrive."

IPSEA’s Board of Trustees are delighted to welcome Madeleine to IPSEA and look forward to her leadership in building upon our 40-year legacy. Her passion for the SEND sector, combined with her extensive expertise, will be invaluable as we work together to expand and sustain the positive impact of IPSEA on young lives.

Madeleine succeeds Laurie Rackind, who has served as Interim Chief Executive since May 2024. Laurie will continue to support the transition until Madeleine takes up her post.

We look forward to working alongside Madeleine as we continue our mission to ensure that children and young people with SEND receive the education they are legally entitled to.
