About us Latest news Launching our new strategy: Empowering families, protecting rights, securing education 6 May 2026 We have today published our new strategy for 2026-2030, setting out how we will strengthen our work to ensure more children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) receive the education and support they are entitled to by law. The strategy comes at a critical time. Families face delays, barriers and unlawful decisions at every stage of the system, and are often forced to fight to secure the provision their children are entitled to. At the same time, proposed reforms to the SEND system risk weakening the legal protections that many rely on. Our new strategy sets out a clear plan to respond to these challenges, building on more than 40 years of experience supporting families to understand and enforce their legal rights. It focuses on four key areas: empowering families, improving understanding of SEND law, influencing policy and practice, and innovating how we deliver our services. Our Chief Executive, Madeleine Cassidy, said: “Too many children and young people with SEND are still not receiving the support they are entitled to by law. This strategy sets out how we will build on our work to support more families, strengthen understanding of SEND law, and push for a system that works as it should. We see every day the difference that the right support can make. When children’s needs are met, it can have an incredible impact on their lives. With the continued commitment of our staff, volunteers and supporters, we will keep working to ensure that more families can secure an education that meets their children’s needs.” Our strategy outlines the impact we want to see by 2030, including a system where legal rights are consistently applied, services work together effectively, and all children and young people with SEND - including those facing additional barriers - are able to access the support they need.
