Children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) are being let down right now. Across England families are struggling to get their children the education they are legally entitled to.

In 2014, the Children and Families Act introduced far-reaching changes to the system for supporting children and young people with SEND. These reforms created a strong set of rights for children, young people and their families, but at IPSEA we see poor, often unlawful, decision-making by local authorities on a daily basis. Too often, children and young people with SEND are not receiving the special educational provision they are entitled to under the law.

This is why IPSEA is releasing its manifesto. We are calling on the next government to make four commitments to improve the education of children and young people with SEND and ensure they receive the support they are legally entitled to.
