Local authorities have particular duties towards some groups of children and young people who require home to school transport arrangements. The entitlements differ depending on the age of the child or young person.

Our ‘Home to school/college transport’ webinar explains what the law says about transport entitlement and when it must be provided, explores children and young peoples’ rights and potential entitlement to transport provision, and identifies when it would be appropriate to make an application for transport provision or challenge a refusal to provide transport. In particular, the webinar covers the following topics:

  • An explanation of the legal framework
  • Eligible children - children of statutory school age who may be entitled to transport
  • Exceptions to entitlement
  • The position for children with Education, Health and Care (EHC) plans
  • The framework applying to those post-16
  • Transport for ‘adult learners’
  • How to make an application
  • Challenging decisions

Duration: 25 minutes
