Without our volunteers, IPSEA simply wouldn’t be able to reach and support thousands of children and young people with SEND. But amazingly some of our volunteers do even more for IPSEA. Volunteers like Agatha.

As well as supporting families going through Tribunals both on our advice line and through our Tribunal Support Service, Agatha is also running the London Marathon to help raise funds and awareness for our cause.

She says, “During my time at IPSEA, I have spoken with so many incredible parents. I have been touched by their determination and love. Equally, I have been saddened to hear, time and time again, how difficult it can be to ensure that the basic needs of their children are met at school. Any type of exclusion from learning can be, and often is, the beginning of lifelong disadvantage and marginalisation. For example, people with SEND are disproportionately represented in the criminal justice system. Special educational needs and disabilities should not stop children from being in education, but unfortunately, they often do. That is why the work that IPSEA does in providing independent legally based advice is SO vital."

Ali Fiddy our CEO says:

"We are a small organisation, punching above our weight with a staff team of just 20, many of whom work part time. All our free services are delivered by a national network of 150 highly skilled volunteers who are the life blood of IPSEA’s work. To ensure our independence we don’t take any funding from Government for our advice and casework services. Therefore we rely on, and are incredibly grateful for, the support of all our donors who fund our vital work supporting thousands of children and young people with SEND."

We are delighted Agatha will be running for us. Thank you Agatha!
