Training For parents and carers Free SEND law training: Essex residents Introduction to SEND Law (free training day): Essex residents Date: Tuesday 14th December Duration: 5.25 hours (10.00 - 15.15, including breaks and Q&A) Format: virtual, via Zoom webinar Thanks to a grant from The Ark Centre, we are pleased to be offering our one day Introduction to SEND law training for free to parents and carers of children with SEND who are residents of Essex. This training day covers: The Law – where to find it; the basic definitions; scope How should a nursery, school or college help? How should a local authority help? The process to obtaining an Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan What should an EHC plan contain? Naming a school/college in an EHC plan The content is particularly relevant for parents and carers who are looking to secure additional support at school and/or an EHC plan for their child, but would also be suitable for those who already have an EHC plan in place and would like to learn more about the law and how it applies to children and young people. The training session is presented live by a member of our legal team, with plenty of opportunity for questions. How do I book? Once you have submitted your booking request, you will receive an email holding your place and requesting evidence of your address, for example: utility or council tax bill, bank statement, drivers license etc. Please reply to this email with a photo/scan of your proof of address within 48 hours, or your place will be automatically released.
