This one day training is designed specifically for parents, carers and supporting family members of children with special educational needs and disabilities, providing an introduction to SEND law, and empowering attendees to secure the right education for their child.

This training day covers:

  • The Law – where to find it; the basic definitions; scope
  • How should a nursery, school or college help?
  • How should a local authority help?
  • The process to obtaining an Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan
  • What should an EHC plan contain?
  • Naming a school/college in an EHC plan

The content is particularly relevant for parents and carers who are looking to secure additional support at school and/or an EHC plan for their child, but would also be suitable for those who already have an EHC plan in place and would like to learn more about the law and how it applies to children and young people.

Our legal team will present the session live and it will still be possible to ask questions as if it were a face to face session.

This training is not appropriate for those such as local authority staff who may be responding to the rights of a parent or young person. Our Local Authorities SEND Law one day training has been developed specifically for local authority staff.
