Delivered live over zoom by a member of our legal team this half day training is aimed at parents and carers of children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), and is suitable for those currently going through the following appeals processes:

  • Refusal to assess
  • Refusal to issue a plan

The training will cover the following topics:

  • Understanding the steps and stages of the appeal process and what to do at each stage
  • Law guidance and case law around the need of an EHC plan to specify and quantify
  • Law guidance and case law in naming a school in a plan
  • Preparation of working documents
  • Looking at local authority response to the appeal
  • Preparing effectively for your appeal hearing day
  • Hints and tips on how to put your case across well on the day

This training is not appropriate for those such as local authority staff who may be responding to the rights of a parent or young person. Our Local Authorities SEND Law one day training has been developed specifically for local authority staff.
