An auction of promises is a fun way to raise money for IPSEA. People can bid on chores they want done in their home (e.g. washing the car or other household chores), or nominate promises to give up something – the list goes on...!

How to get started

Below are some basic steps to get you started with organising your charity auction of promises:

  • Find a venue – this could be your home, school hall or community centre
  • Set a time – giving enough notice
  • Ask lots of friends, family or colleagues to volunteer promises or skills/chores
  • Advertise – using posters, social media, friends and family
  • Organise refreshments, possibly a raffle and games
  • Once your supporters bid at your promises auction, it could be up to them and your volunteers to schedule when the promises or chores will be done. Or before the bidding, the volunteer can specify when they are going to be taking place. If you want to streamline things a little more, set one date when all of the promises will be performed.

Every pound you raise will fund IPSEA’s work to help parents and carers ensure their children with special educational needs and disabilities get the right education.

There are a number of ways to pay in the funds you raise:

  • Create a personalised fundraising page on JustGiving and keep your family and friends updated by uploading photos, sending emails, and creating links to social media sites - any funds raised through JustGiving will be paid to us directly
  • Donate to us online – make sure you leave us a message telling us how you have raised the money
  • Pay by bank transfer – please contact our fundraising team using our enquiry form or email at [email protected]

We will send an acknowledgement of the money received. If a receipt is required please contact us at [email protected].
