Going to a SEND Tribunal
Parents can go to the Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal (SEND) for two reasons:
1. To appeal a decision made by the Local Education Authority regarding their child’s Special Educational Needs
2. To make a claim of Disability Discrimination either against a school or the Local Authority regarding a child’s education
Both an SEN appeal and a DDA claim follow the same procedure once successfully registered with the Tribunal.
Please make sure that you do not miss any important deadline as you progress through the procedure.
The SEND website www.sendist.gov.uk has information, the forms needed to register with the Tribunal and forms to communicate with them available.
Please note that before 3 November 2009 the Tribunal was known as SENDIST (Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal).
