Tribunal Support

An IPSEA Tribunal Support casework volunteer provides individual support to the family whose case they take. IPSEA's Tribunal Support can only be accessed by calling the Tribunal Help Line. If our assessment is that you need this support, it will be provided throughout the Tribunal process - including representation at a hearing if needed. Our case work volunteers will work with parents to empower them to obtain the best possible result from going to Tribunal. Including:

• The preparation of papers for Tribunal
• Case management process
• Asking for directions
• Advice on evidence required
• The role of witnesses
• Working documents
• Negotiation with LEA
• Representation at hearing
• Assessment of decisions

Parents remain in control of the process at all times and are responsible for making the decisions around what they want the Tribunal to understand around their child’s needs, the support they require and the most appropriate educational placement in which to receive it.
